2020 will be the 20th year of the Headwaters Relay. Come run with us!

We wanted to give you a heads up on our current thinking about how Covid-19 might impact the Headwaters Relay. Obviously, the situation is fluid and rapidly evolving, and our response will need to evolve with it. At this point we are NOT planning on canceling the relay. It is still over four months out, so we have time to reassess. The relay is really not much of a crowd event, other than the day one start, and the end of the race dinner. Of course you will be in close quarters with your teammates. We realize plane tickets need to be purchased by many runners, so we will try to make a timely decision.

What we have decided to do now, is extend the withdrawal deadline for a refund, and the due date of the remaining entry fee, from May 1 to June 1.

Stay healthy and keep on training! We will inform you immediately of any further changes in our plans.

The Headwaters Team

The Headwaters Relay is a three day, 217 mile team running relay race. The course runs through the mountains and valleys of Southwest Montana. The route is 98% on dirt and two-track roads revisiting Lewis and Clark's trek. The race starts at the confluence of the Missouri River, and winds its way through the backcountry, passing over three mountain ranges and ending in the Centennial Valley at Hell Roaring Creek, the furthest headwaters of the Missouri.
